Custom Molded Foot Orthosis

Plastic foot orthosis molded over a model of the patient’s foot to provide control of the foot.
Advantages

1. Mid and Hind Foot control
2. Lightweight
3. Cosmetic
4. Can interchange shoes
5. Free dorsiflexion/ plantarflexion
6. More control of the mid and hind foot than foot orthoses
7. Inexpensive

Disadvantages

1. May require a change in footwear (e.g. larger shoe or a shoe that has removable insoles)
2. Does not provide as much control and does not distribute the forces as well as higher profile options.
